ABOUT THE GALLERY

Although Crescent Hill Gallery originally opened its doors in September of 2002,  we relocated onto Frankfort Avenue in Historic Crescent Hill in September of 2003. In February 2008 we relocated once again to the 2000 block of Frankfort Avenue in the Clifton area of the corridor.  Our lease was up the end of February 2011 and at that time we closed the gallery on Frankfort Avenue and moved the framing department of the gallery home.  It has proved to be a positive experience.

We specialize in "local art...by local artists" and also offer custom framing at a reasonable price. As the official retailer for the St James Court Art Show, we carry St James Court Art Show Posters, shirts, tote bags, post cards and note cards.

2033Frankfort_Ave..jpgMy name is Nancy Alvey and I am a photographer and custom framer.  My dad got me interested in photography when I was a teen back in Madison, WI.  It kind of snowballed from there.  In the early nineties while I was working in an office, I discovered that a friend of mine was interested in photography also.  So we just kind of pooled our resources and started shooting weddings. We joined a photo club and made a lot of new friends in the photography business.

I have lived in many cities throughout the Midwest and East, so photography was always a way to keep the memories with me.  I also am very interested in the Arts as a whole and enjoy the museums in NYC and Chicago as well as Speed Museum here in Louisville, KY.

In 2001 I quit my job in the Insurance Adjusting business and was going to pursue the photography fulltime when about seven months later,  the gallery kind of dropped into my lap.  So I originally opened the doors to Crescent Hill Art Gallery on September 1, 2002 on Stilz Avenue in Louisville KY.  After a year I moved the business to Frankfort Avenue where I am currently located at 2033 Frankfort Ave., between Osaka and Home Textiles.  We have lots of traffic and love it here!

Since opening the doors over on Stilz I have met so many wonderful artists and continue to do so all the time.  I never realized what kind of talent there was here in Louisville.  It is amazing and some of the best have work available for sale here at Crescent Hill Gallery.

Please take your time to check out all of the artists, they are all special in their own way and deserve as much attention as the next.  There are a few who have been with me since the beginning, such as  Spike Frederick, Dixie Hornback, Danielle Weakland and Ellen O'Connell.

Since moving up to Frankfort Avenue I have become very involved with FABA (Frankfort Avenue Business Association) and also  F.A.T. Friday (Frankfort Avenue Trolley Hop).  And once again, I have met many wonderful people up and down the Avenue, you just have to get out and meet them also.  Come down on the last Friday of the month for F.A.T. Friday and you will have a great time!  Guaranteed!  Well, you will have a great time whenever you come to Frankfort Avenue.  I hope to meet you soon.
